The Challenge

In a large organization, with an internal learning and development department, it can be hard to keep oversight on the quality of training. If a company has a culture of boring/ineffective training, then employees will not buy into any attempts to train up the workforce. This culture can be stubborn to reverse once it is established. To keep the quality of training high, having a written standard for certain aspects of training design and execution with a corresponding peer review process is a great start. Just those two things doesn't completely solve the problem; the standards still need to be taught to the trainers.

The Solution

Along with having training standards and peer review, a company also needs to train their trainers on the standards so they can be followed effectively. This course is aimed at corporate trainers to help them build and deliver engaging trainings for company employees. This course is most effectively done in person, but it can be adapted for a virtual instructor led course if necessary.

This course it built to not only teach sound instructional and graphic design, but also show an example of good instructional and graphic design. At the end of the course, learners get the opportunity to practice what they've learned on a course they are currently teaching or building.

The Results

Unfortunately, I was laid off before this course was 100% completed, so it was never taught to a live audience. I am confident in the design of this course to improve the ability of learners to build and deliver effective courses.

Since the topic of Instructional and graphic design is universal to anywhere that build training, I look forward to bringing this course to a new Learning and Development team!
